Girls Team Tennis: All Top-Four Seeds Advance to Semis

AURORA - The quarterfinal round of the Girls Tennis Team State Championships has been completed with the top-four seeds advancing to the semifinals in all three classification brackets. The semifinal round matches will be played at the home site of the higher seed on Tuesday, May 7 with the championships set for Tuesday, May 14 at Denver Tennis Park.
In 5A, No. 2 Ralston Valley got past No. 8 Regis Jesuit, 6-1, while No. 4 Rocky Mountain knocked off No. 5 Rock Canyon, 4-2, to set up a semifinal matchup between Ralston Valley and Rocky Mountain.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Cherry Creek will face No. 3 Valor Christian in the semifinals. Cherry Creek defeated No. 7 Fairview, 5-2, to advance, while Valor Christian knocked off No. 6 Fossil Ridge, 5-2.
In the 4A bracket, the top-four seeds advanced with No. 1 Kent Denver facing No. 4 Air Academy and No. 2 Cheyenne Mountain hosting No. 3 Mullen in the semifinals.
Kent Denver also defeated No. 9 Denver South, 6-1, in the quarterfinals, while Air Academy escaped No. 5 Discovery Canyon, 4-3. Cheyenne Mountain swept No. 10 George Washington, 7-0, and Mullen got past No. 6 Erie, 4-3.
In 3A, top-seeded D’Evelyn and No. 4 Colorado Academy will meet in the semifinals, as D’Evelyn swept No. 9 Dawson School and Colorado Academy beat Holy Family, 5-2.
On the other side of the bracket, second-seeded Vail Christian automatically advanced with a forfeit and will face No. 3 Peak to Peak, which swept Prospect Ridge Academy, 7-0.
The Girls Tennis Team State Championship – which is different than the Girls Tennis Individual State Championship – will be played on Tuesday, May 7 at the Denver Tennis Park. The 5A match will start the day at 9:30 a.m., followed by the 4A championships at 11:45 a.m. and the 3A match at 2 p.m.
